Future of katyj98

This is what I've come up for 2015.

katyj98 will still be an Object Show based channel.

katyj98second will be renamed to 'katnips' (neat name!) and retuned to be a more official youtube channel with all my pony and minecraft content.

I'm gonna start a third channel. I actually have high hopes for this one. I plan for this channel to be something like kurzgesagt youtube channel: www.youtube.com/user/Kurzgesagt. Here's where all my motion graphics skills and astronomy topics will go to.

Stay tuned for December 2014.

Analysing Through the Woods Episode 8!

After nearly 11 months! It's here. The one that i've been waiting.

Through the Woods is currently one my favourite object shows to watch, simply because of its original music and art style. Episode 7 set a mark when it featured 2 songs, actual object show songs that fits in with the narration in a way. I'm expecting the same with episode 8, and yeah we got them.

It's kinda of how object show episodes begin, introducing to the scene with characters talking about the upcoming challenge and elimination. Blah blah blah. I think there has to be a better way to start episodes (lens flares, aww yeah).

Here comes the first song: Can't Imagine. Through first few watchings, I did not get what they were saying, the voice sounded muffled, too much auto-tune. But hey, there's at least nice instrumentals. I think it's them saying something about their personality not fitting...? And there was one part with a lot of BUMS. The song is great, it used those multi-vocal lyrics which I really like in many songs, but it didn't quite hit the mark due to it's eccentric auto-tuning, so sorry.

Also, Carrot's been given Siri's voice! All thanks to AdultChampion's (yes haha!) Voice Changer.

The elimination turns out to be with prizes? Hmm.... Oh yeah, I voted Carrot, and he did get eliminated. He said a lot of BUT(T)S.

And hey random skill spectacle challenge to be held in a RANDOM DIMENSION (with a guava)!

I see the MLP assets used anywhere! Is it? Nah. Maybe. You know, I tried drawing a tree, and it turned out to be more difficult than I thought... (you can't draw so perfectly on them).

MarkerMart's alternate dimension is LifeMart. Again, OVERLY AUTO-TUNED life buoy character, must be for fun, but was it necessary? And for the first time in forever~, there a censor in a show... omg. I dunno if this is the right direction that object shows should go for... maybe there should be a PG rated object show?

Blah blah blah contest. Nothing special here. Except another song, that is a parodied version of another song which I have no idea what.

To be honest, I think Gumdrop is cute. Really. She sang NOT ME. Apparently, TTW is also following BFDIA's method of elimination with prizes and elimination. Heh.

This is definitely where object shows should be headed towards, becoming more of a way to tell a nice little story, something that other object shows seem to lack and makes them too cliché and boring. A good object show is unique. Unique in it's story or art style or animation etc. TTW has displayed it in some sense.

I'd give this episode a rating of One dimension out of Swimmy.

Thanks for reading! :D

What ever happened to the Joseph Howard channel?

One thing the object show community kinda lacks is the 'manliness' or 'maturity', especially since majority of the audience of object shows are under 16. Once you bring in the 'manliness' factor, thoughts and ideas can be expressed more comprehensively and trivially, with the additional life experiences and knowledge that could then be shared among the rest.

The Joseph Howard channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePhrontisterion) was one of them. He made 2 videos on over-analyzing object shows. The first one was kinda like a pilot episode, then he went on to more stuff in the second episode. It has been more than a year since any videos were uploaded there.

He trivially calculated the cost required to afford Hotel OJ in Inanimate Insanity and explained the different phenomenas that occurred in object shows and how it compares to real life. At first when I saw the video in April 2013, I thought to myself: 'This guy's really passionate about object shows like me! I think he has the potential to be an incredible person in the community. I can't wait to hear more thoughtful analysis from him!'

Well, it has been a year, and after revisiting the channel, his videos still amaze me. In his second video, he mentioned that since the first video was 'so well received' he decided to make another one and with a proper intro to the video. He even made some dramatic reactions which I personally like!

I talked to tBlizzi over at skype today. tBlizzi was mentioned by Joseph as his friend who was the voice of Toast in Object Mayhem. She mentioned that he is focusing on real life stuff. He was interested in the videos for a while before he did not have time for it anymore.

Real life is at it again! The Joseph Howard channel is something that we appreciated back then. His videos, although only two of them, did go through a lot we never thought one would. I think I have something to model over. :)

Updated BFDI Episode Views

Just recently, BFDI Episode 1 Part 1 passed 14 million views. That's septuple the last time I did this (about 16 months ago).

We see the same trend as the last time. BFDI Episode 1 Part 1 remains most viewed followed by Part 2.

There are some anomalies in the standard trend of newer means less/somewhat equal views, such as Episode 8, 10, 17, BFDIA 1 and 5e which have higher views and Episode 5,6,7,16,19, BFDIA 5a,c and d with lower views.

If you combine all 4 'viewable' parts of BFDIA 5 into one episode, it will become the 3rd most viewed episode of BFDI.

Also about BFDI Episode 1, dislikes make about over a third of the ratings. Too juvenile for the newbies I guess

When you look at BFDI Episode 1 Part 1's analytics, it shows that for about the first 2 years of the existence of the video, nothing much changes. Then around June 2012, the views climbed fast. Reaching 1 million views in September 2012, 2 million 2 months later, 5 million in Spring 2013, and 10 million near Winter 2013. From the chart, you can probably tell that it'll surpass 15 million pretty soon.

If you'd like to read my previous post about BFDI stats you can go here.

Analysing Brawl of the Objects Episode 10!

So, we have another April Fools Day Prank. I even fell for it. Good job by the way.

This episode has definitely been the best episode of BOTO to me. Let's get to it. And don't you love BIG ORANGE CHICKEN? BOC BOC BOC

So Slurpy was eliminated. The legless one, sorry. Also, why do contestants always freeze at unfortunate times? Because when Slurpy was telling Shelly to not wory for her, she was happy. But then when Pizza came to ask about castles, she was left in a confused emotion and froze. Well, that sucked. It would be nice to see someone froze in that chamber when they are smiling.

Also splitting the contestants into pairs which don't along together/interact, sounds like some kind of motivational camp. But it is good in any way.

And Caves. Also we did not know what the 'unspeakable consequences' were when they open the box. I do want to see what happens. :) The caves was kinda dark and I had to increase the brightness and adjust my screen to see what was going on in the background, but I guess Antony is excused.

Party Hat and Baguette, only the best pair/team ever! This episode has finally let us see the great language barrier of Baguette and the rest of the contestants.

Also, Shelly seems to be creeped out of the bats and nocturnal creatures in the cave, but from what I remember from the Haunted House episode, she tried to scare people out by having those scary eyes of DOOM.

Wait, Chocolately found Diamonds and other gems? They could have mined them and sell them and make money so that do not need to play BOTO anymore. Or they could craft a diamond sword to slay the rock monsters and then maybe use the gold to bribe the contestants so they will win. Meh.

And then we are introduced to the 'Mining Hat Twins', was it? I dunno. The credits mentioned that Pink was voiced by Antony's mom, so that's cool. They are just little side antagonists characters. Which made the contestants safe from the rock monsters but, yeah.

Back to Party Hat Baguette, the best team ever. We hear about the story of Baguette's dad, Croissant. I can't even spell 'croissant' correctly, I used auto-correct. It is a neat little story, and I think Object Shows *should* develop on character backstories. Even though, Croissant painted a black picture in a cave, how was he even able to carry around an easel and paintbrush and know where to put it when it is SO DARK? This little section could be removed and still have no effect on the episode but it was a nice addition.

And ROCK MONSTERS. Cool. I found them 'over-muscularly' cute though.

Boat then broke the 4th wall again. This time literally. I love it.

And oh my gosh these rock monsters aren't paid at all! We should set up some kind of rock monster charity fund to help those slaved sediments of doom. Also, this should be a french cave, everything natively written and spoken in French.

So, this challenge is basically help Controlly get his morning coffee. Now where did I heard this joke before? It's cliché, i've seen this joke before.

So this episode was a TNT blast into a cave.

I give this episode one pink out of purple.

Until next time.

Yeah. :D

The current state of the Object Show Community

Here's some ranting from me.

You may be asking: "What is the current state of the community?" It's quite hard to comprehend the situation at this moment. Let's use analogies!

If you imagine the community as a forest fire, BFDI was the spark. It started burning and continued to keep it's flame alive for quite a while. Then came Inanimate Insanity where we throw in another firewood into the fire. The fire became stronger, and soon, more and more object shows came, and we continued to pour in more sticks and twigs and the forest fire reached peak around End-2012.

Right now, the BFDI and Inanimate Insanity throw in their giant firewood less often. Whereas other object shows pour in more often but they only throw twigs and leaves. Hmmm...

The thing is, this whole object show community is mostly made up of youths aged 9-14 that make their own object shows, they try to find whatever they can to throw into the fire, be it leaves or twigs. Whereas when you are talking about the creators of BFDI, II, OU, OO, BOTO etc. they go deep into the forest to try to find the best firewood for the flame while also accomplishing personal tasks like their own separate fires.

The Object Show community is now 4 years old and is growing up. For me, I was fortunate to be in the time where Object Shows were ripe from their trees. (Oh no, another analogy!) And right now is probably a winter.

We won't know when the next firewood will be thrown in, but just remember that in order for an experience to be enjoyable, it must have it's rise and falls. When it does rise, hurrah for everyone. Just like what the song 'Let Her Go' says. You only get to feel the great euphoria happening when something is a rarity and we treasure the experience.

See ya!

Analysing Object Overload Episode 6

It's been 4 months since we last seen an OO episode. Where we were left with a cliff hanger of Kite landing at a mysterious place after falling down the waterfall and then being 'kidnapped'. And there was a video from ObjectShowMysteries (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mevtOUkkKFw) stating that it should be Tiki that might have kidnapped her. You can watch the video, it explains quite a lot.

Strangely, the episode is not available in HD. I asked Xany over at DeviantArt and he said that exporting and animating in HD was "too glitchy". I mean almost all object shows are in at least 720p HD to let viewers have a great experience when watching the show. But let's go back to the show shall we?

In the first minute, we were shown that IT was Tiki... not. It is just Tiki's sister, Tiki, like a half tiki. We'll get back to that.

Kite's trap, was not meant to be to catch objects in real life. Traps like those can also be seen in Native American tribes to catch animals lurking in the forest, but we don't see animals in object shows...

Back to Tiki, the Tikis appears to be a tribe, just like Native Americans. My knowledge of American History is minute, so I may screw things up here and there. The Tikis have different designs of the 'wings' to differentiate themselves. They treat Kite like a celebrity because they watch OO from Television before he and Tiki was sent off to Gamey in box.

In the game, Toothy's alliance got a treehouse to play in. Something tells me that this idea maybe from the Cutie Mark Crusaders, like where they also got a place to think for new ideas to get their cutie mark.

And to clear something, the word Exquisite means: extremely beautiful and delicate. So you can get that off your minds.

After the challenge began, Toothy tried to get Boxing Glove to join because of Fly Swot's choice to let him join the show. The rest hides behind a bush thinking that Boxing Glove might kill them. Now this is quite interesting, it's something called Tolerance. The stereotype of a Boxing Glove is that it could kill objects, but Boxing Glove is apparently not. Toothy has accepted her and I feel this bonding would clear away that stereotype.

Tiki's mean ways is shown during Team Time's plan to steal Team Tune's boat. So we know Tiki can be aggressive and adventurous, sounds like a personality of an extrovert.

When popcorn and candy are walking in the dark forest, popcorn said that he couldn't see anything but they can still climb a tree.

When Team Time finally down to climbing down the waterfall, Globe finally found a way to escape the traps of the Tikis which is to dive in the water. That's why they were the first to get to Kite, Toaster and Fly Swot without falling for the traps.

And we see Casey trying to prevent the Team Tune from getting something. and yeah he failed again.
Globe's disloyalty and Clock forgetting to bring up the vines caused Team Tune to attain victory.

And clearly Gamey did not say the last line in this episode, it was Dusty. Or Crayon if you count the Epilogue.

Speaking of the epilogue, Crayon seems to have a plan to 'surprise' his team who voted for him.
SOME DAY...
and Tissue's crushed figure was apparently caused by Lighter.

Thanks for reading!!
I may post more of this when I have time. :D

Updates to the Site

I haven't been posting here for a while.

Reason is because of Youtube matters.

Since ObjectCon is next month, and so is my hiatus. I plan to continue putting content here during my hiatus to give comments about the Object Community. I even added reaction choices down below to allow for a nice little discussion :).

I have updated the blog logo/title, because it took me forever to come up with a nice looking title for the blog, but yeah, this was the end result.

I also plan to finally add this blog to a domain, one day. Since I have been earning some Youtube ka-chings, I may want to start setting up a domain. Yeah.

Here, I may also post my analysis on recent episodes of Object Shows and also get to spend some time with the community while my channel remains 'inactive'.

Stay tuned.

PS. I know Michael follows the blog, so you know expect some wise comments from the creators themselves. :)
